I am forever looking for that quick project that will be functional and use up some of these partial skeins of yarn that I have laying around. This pattern is called Drawstring Pouches by Carissa Browning. They are quick to knit and you can use them as gift bags or to store things in. You could make them bigger and they could become a project bag. All kinds of uses.
I used a size 8 needle and I did make one modification. I didn’t want to sew up the bottom, so I co18 stitches and worked 5 rows in st st. Then I picked up 2 stitches on the side, 18 across the opposite long end and finally two stitches on the other side for a total of 40 stitches (per pattern), then I knitted in the round from there. Added a few embellishments and voila, I am finished. The last bag I did a k1, yo, k2 together for the eyelet. This just gave me a few more holes for threading the ribbon.
