Today the weather is rainy/icy. I am so thankful that I don’t have to drive today! Just in time for this cold weather I finished a pair of Gabis Beaded Mitts.
I love this pattern, it kept me interested until the end. I ended up using a small gauge wire and bent it at the end, like a crochet hook, to pull the yarn through the beads. This is the first time that I’ve done this technique. I like it better than having to string the beads on before you start knitting, plus I learned that this method actually creates a stitch.
I used Patons Kroy Sock Yarn, size 2 needles, and size 6 seed beads. I ended up working on two mitts at the same time with two sets of dpn’s. I wanted to make sure I got the thumbs in the right place, so for my brain that required that I work them at the same time. Plus it eliminated second glove syndrome, which as a lot of us know is the 1st cousin to second sock syndrome!
I also have trouble working increases in pattern, so for the thumb gusset I just did stockinette stitch and did 4 rows of ribbing at the top of the thumb before I bound it off.
I hope you all have a happy safe day!
