I finished, I finished, I finished!!!!!!!!!
My Einstein Coat from Sally Melville’s Book 1: The Knit Stitch
I started the beginning of December and finished it on(1-26-09). I just didn’t get pictures until today. Washed, dryed, ends all tucked in, buttons sewn on. WhooHoo! It wasn’t hard, just long. Of course, I worked on many projects in between, but still I’m glad it’s done. I don’t have the perfect buttons, but these will work until I find just the right ones.
I used Lion Brand Wool-Ease Chunky in the color Orchid, mainly because I had it in my stash. I used a size 10 needle and ended up doing the Small size. I had 8 skeins at 153 yds each for a total of 1224 yards.
According to the pattern, this should have been enough for the medium size, but several people on Ravelry claim that you need much more yarn than the pattern calls for, so I took the safe route and did the small. (Plus we know that skeins do not always have the accurate yardage) I did my guage swatch and decided to make the coat 2″ shorter, to give me a little more yarn. I had just enough. Whew! I was 2 rows short on the collar, but that seems to be O.K.
Just as a side note – my grandchildren loved their snakes, they were so excited that it made every stitch worth it.
Hope you all have a wonderful, happy and safe weekend!
